When it comes to breakfast most people choose cereal or toast to start their day, after all you can't beat a bit of warm toasted bread with melted butter right?
Here is where I am laughing, as I was brought up this way too. I still love the thought of a black coffee with a bit of toast and marmalade, yum! Takes me back to those comforting childhood memories and many a summers morning in the UK, sitting on the back doorstep, dawn breaking, slight chill in the air, the smell of coffee and tangy oranges floating up my nostrils . . . .
But now, they are simply memories.
A lifetime later I realise not the best option, if I want to remain as slim as I did in my late teens, a little more thought and care is required.
So, what is the best choices for a great start to the day and of course a sexy stomach and firm booty?
Well, that would be protein.This may bring a silent groan inside, meat?! Well I can't lie, grandma used to cook grandpa kippers for breakfast, before cereal was invented.
However time constraints, family, work, school runs etc can get in the way of cooking breakfast. The alternative, a protein smoothie is a great tasting, healthy option. The advantage is you choose what goes in, my favourite is this simple but delicious Blueberry Smoothie that I am about to share with you. So simple and easy to make, full of antioxidants and protein for repair it will have you leaping out of your skin with the energy of a teenager (maybe. . .) all day long.
½ small Banana
½ Cup Frozen Blueberries
1 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
Water as desired to dilute
Combine everything in blender and process until smooth and creamy. Adding ice gives this shake a thicker texture, which is particularly nice on hot summer days.
